FINGER • THUMB • WRIST PLANS
Not sure what exercises are safe to start?
ClearStart helps you find a safer starting point for pain, stiffness, or weakness — starting with guided plans for fingers, thumbs, and wrists from a Certified Hand Therapist.
Created by Ryne Baines, OTR/L, CHT — Certified Hand Therapist
Before you spend time and money on care, start with clarity.
In-person therapy can be incredibly helpful — and sometimes necessary. But not every stiff finger, sore thumb, or tight wrist needs to start with an appointment.
ClearStart gives you a low-cost place to begin with clear videos, simple safety questions, pain rules, and guidance on when home exercise may not be enough.
Should you stretch it? Strengthen it? Rest it? Support it? Get it checked?
That’s what ClearStart helps you think through.
What you get today
Finger stiffness plan
Motion, tendon glides, blocking exercises, stretching, and strengthening.
Thumb pain or stiffness
Thumb motion, stability, strengthening, support tips, and thumb taping guidance.
Wrist stiffness or weakness
Range of motion, stretching, early strengthening, and pain rules.
Each plan uses clear videos and simple instructions you can follow at home.
Know when home exercise may not be enough
ClearStart is built to guide simple starting points — not pretend every problem can be solved at home.
If your symptoms sound more serious, like severe numbness or tingling, worsening pain, signs of infection, a finger that keeps locking, constant joint pain, deformity, or recent surgery/injury without clearance, the app helps point you toward getting checked.

I built ClearStart because I see the same problem every day: people want to get better, but they don’t know which exercises are appropriate, how hard to push, what to avoid, or when they should get checked.
ClearStart is designed to give you a clearer starting point — and to help you recognize when home guidance may not be enough.

How it works
Choose your problem
Start with finger, thumb, or wrist.
Answer safety questions
Check for warning signs before starting.
Follow your starting plan
Use clear videos, pain rules, and guidance on when to back off or get checked.
ClearStart provides general education and simple recovery guidance. It does not replace care from your doctor, therapist, or surgeon. Severe pain, numbness, infection signs, deformity, worsening symptoms, a finger that keeps locking, constant joint pain, or recent surgery/injury without clearance should be checked by a medical professional.
